San Fruttuoso

The complex of San Fruttuoso is inserted in the Park of Portofino, a protected area since 1935, offering an overview of the Ligurian coast, and from the point of view of nature and from the historical-anthropological. The natural park of Portofino "contains one of the largest concentrations of flora in the Mediterranean, a wide variety of birds and invertebrates, important architectural, landscapes among the most famous in the world. The depths retain the full range of marine biotic communities of the Tirreno. The present state of the territory is the result of an original form of co-evolution between nature and human activity, giving rise to a surprising variety of biological systems and environments, but also to a specific material culture. "

The diving in the area where there is the Christ of the Abyss is not particularly difficult: the shallow water and the location of the bay, protected from the south winds, it is well suited to a dip in peace to pay homage to the statue of Christ, protector of seafarers and divers.
The southern part of the dive is certainly more interesting, with walls covered with coral and sponges.

Not far from the beach of San Fruttuoso, about 18 meters deep are the remains of the hull of Croesus, a British steamship, who served as a troop transport during the Crimean War.
